Medical devices come in all shapes and sizes such as implantable devices for regulating heartbeats through to complex electro-mechanical equipment such as anaesthetic machines and patient monitors. Working as a Quality Engineer is an interesting and multifaceted role and usually requires previous medical device quality engineering experience.  Being responsible for end to end customer satisfaction including handling complaints and dealing with regulatory authorities, you would be trained and competent in ISO 9001 and ISO 13485. The role includes a great deal of customer-facing interaction, and requires great written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues as well as good technical acumen and commercial awareness. The role of a quality engineer is vital to ensure patients are safe and the medical equipment used by clinicians provide accurate and lifesaving results.
