Science park expansion could create '750 scientific jobs'

Phase seven of the expansion of the Malvern Hills Science Park is set to add more than 20,000 square metres of commercial space for technology and science based businesses, and could see up to 750 scientific jobs created.

According to the collaborative force of QinetiQ, Malvern Hills District Council, Worcestershire County Council and Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, project will oversee the development of a 4.5 hectare area of brown field land opposite the already established science park and Malvern Technology Centre, encouraging the creation of 750 new high value scientific and technology jobs.

Commenting on the latest expansion of the site, Gary Woodman, chief executive of Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, suggested that the addition of the jobs would help to boost the area's reputation as a world leading region for science and technology business hub.

"These new expansion plans will help Malvern to meet this increasing demand for investment and will help to create a large number of highly-skilled permanent jobs which will have a hugely positive impact on the local economy and for local residents, businesses and employees," he said.

Harriet Baldwin, Malvern MP also praised the expansion's potential following a number of meetings with local businesses throughout the summer of 2017 eager to grow as part of the new science park.

"Malvern Hills Science Park is a hugely attractive option and I know lots of companies who would like to take space on the site," she said. "There are some impressive plans to expand and I am told that fresh companies are lining up to take space."
