Derelict mill set to become new science park

A derelict mill is set to become the newest science park in Cambridge, providing the opportunity for new science jobs through the support of local entrepreneurs.

According to reports, tech investor o2h has purchased the Hauxton Mill site with plans to develop it into a 2.76 acre o2h SciTech Park and create a new community of entrepreneurs in the science, technology and social enterprise industries.

Sunil Shah, CEO of o2h, has revealed that the firm has plans to restore the derelict mill site and create three new facilities. Included in the plans are biology lab spaces and co-working areas, which will provide science jobs for local professionals.

In an announcement, Shah added that it is hoped the new park will become a key part of the community, providing the opportunity for science and technology companies to develop with the help of the facilities they need.

"We are really excited to acquire the Hauxton Mill site, this is a key part of the o2h ecosystem in which we enable and nurture great science and technology companies to flourish," he said. "The co-work space at the o2h SciTech Park, allied to our research, seed investment and technology capabilities provide start-ups with the best possible chance to move from seed stage to commercial success."
