A mental healthcare support provider has received a significant funding package from the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund – BFS & MSIF Microfinance to launch its first UK-based operations.
Founded in November 2017 by Jaime Essed in the Netherlands, Oh My Mood develops support facilities to improve practises within the mental healthcare profession. The company’s expansion into the UK market, by picking Liverpool and the Science Park as its base, will allow local mental health professionals to design out-patient programmes using digitally-inspired therapeutic interventions and videocalls.
The investment will be used to facilitate growth within the company and of the business in the UK, whilst also funding additional research and development platforms for more innovative mental health care initiatives.
MSIF investment manager, Sue Chambers, said: “it has been a pleasure to work with Jaime to bring Oh My Mood to fruition in the UK. He has a strong business established in the Netherlands and I see no reason why his presence in Liverpool would not follow suit.
“The service that they provide to the mental healthcare sector is impressive and innovative. I look forward to seeing the impact of Oh My Mood will have across the region.”
Essed further added: “The MSIF support is of invaluable importance to the further growth of Oh My Mood. It was the welcoming environment that made us choose Liverpool as our first UK base. It’s therefore great that we have been able to work with a local partner for our first investment round.”
