A family-owned construction group is set to take on a project to develop the extension to a Manchester hospital.

Casey Group is due to begin work at the North Manchester General Hospital located in Crumpsall to build a new intermediate care facility worth £3.2 million.

The project was delegated by the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, and is set to create a further 16 patient beds at the hospital as part of the Trust’s prolonged investment initiative. It is anticipated that with the development of the new wing, there will also be a rise in the number of jobs to address medical and administrative needs within the hospital.

Designed by architects at Lewis & Hickey, the three-storey building will connect to the main hospital and is set to be completed by January 2020.

Matthew Sorrigan, the business development director at Casey Group, commented on the project, saying: “We are delighted to have secured this new instruction and are looking forward to working with the Trust to deliver a high-quality project which meets the Trust’s aspirations.

“The health sector is an area we are focusing on expanding our construction business into and have a number of other opportunities we are currently progressing.”
