Antimicrobial additives business BioCote has benefited from a £600,000 funding package that will be invested into the creation of a new laboratory, larger headquarters, and new jobs to support research and development.
The Coventry-based company, now celebrating its 25th anniversary, manufactures antimicrobial additives which are used in a variety of industries, primarily in the healthcare and home and leisure sectors.
Its expansion is also anticipated to generate a number of jobs in the local area; the company experienced a 25 per cent increase in employee numbers in the last year, and is expected to grow further in the next two as it recruits for administration, sales and technical roles.
Sean Reid, managing director of BioCote, said: "Our move to a new business facility in Coventry reinforces our investment in, and commitment to, the local area, which will continue with the creation of more jobs in the future.
"Over the past 25 years, BioCote has grown into a well-established market-leader in integrated antimicrobial technology.
"Our knowledge of microbiology, materials chemistry and global biocidal regulations has kept us at the forefront of the industry.
"An increasing number of companies in the UK and globally are choosing to add our high-performance antimicrobial additives to their products – ranging from medical equipment, mobile phones and electrical accessories to furniture, bathroom accessories and flooring.
"The hygiene, cleanliness and durability benefits that are delivered give end users a very valid reason to choose protected over non-protected products."
