Chromatography is a laboratory technique used to separate a mixture and falls into four main categories – liquid chromatography (LC), gas chromatography (GC), thin-layer chromatography (TLC) and paper chromatography. Nowadays high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) is the type of liquid chromatography most often used in scientific laboratories. There are other specialist methods of separation such as affinity chromatography, ion exchange chromatography, gel filtration chromatography, reverse-phase chromatography, fast protein chromatography to name but a few.
A chromatography sales specialist (also called Territory Manager, Area Sales Manager, Sales Representative, Area Manager etc) would typically have an academic background in analytical sciences with a Batchelors degree or higher in analytical chemistry for example. They would have gained experience in a pharmaceutical or academic research laboratory (eg vaccine development), food and drink testing laboratories or forensic laboratories.
