Contract development and manufacturing firm Biofortuna has relocated to a new state-of-the-art facility in North Wales. The move to the Deeside site more than doubles Biofortuna’s manufacturing capacity.

The company provides solutions including manufacturing support, custom development and genomic services to clients in sectors ranging from IVD, to consumer health, pharma biotech and life sciences.

The company’s new premises have been designed by the firm itself to enable it to provide the most modern, efficient manufacturing laboratories to meet the evolving needs of IVD and point of care companies around the world. It features 450m³ of best-in-class, humidity-controlled clean rooms, enabling more than 10 million reactions to be processed on a weekly basis.

Biofortuna CEO Dr Nick Ash said: “This multi-million-pound investment demonstrates our ambition and commitment to become the sectors’ leading support specialist, helping our customers to accelerate their diagnostic development programmes from concept to commercialisation”.

The company’s Head of Sales Paul Williams added: “This facility will position Biofortuna as one of the leading outsourced providers of genomic services, custom assay development and contract manufacturing.”

“It has been designed to expand our turn-key capabilities and provide our customers with a scalable resource to develop and manufacture their assays, particularly in the point of care and de-centralised IVD testing space”.
