Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool has become the NHS’s very first Meditech customer after signing an agreement with the company to use its next generation Expanse electronic patient record (EPR) for enhanced patient care and productivity.
Alder Hey is one of Europe’s biggest and busiest children’s hospitals, with over 330,000 children, young people and their families being cared for there every year. It opened a state-of-the-art hospital along with a brand new research, innovation and education centre in 2015.
Alder Hey also offers paediatric services from a number of community sites, while it also holds local clinics across Merseyside, Cumbria, Shropshire, Wales and the Isle of Man.
The adoption of Expanse will allow Alder Hey to use advanced technology to elevate care and quality outcomes and support their efforts to ultimately achieve HIMSS Stage 7. This will help the hospital to further its Digital Futures Strategy.
“We are committed to providing our patients, and their families, with exceptional care,” said Kate Warriner, Chief Digital and Information Officer at Alder Hey NHS Foundation Trust. “Digital technology can enhance everything we do and we are looking forward to harnessing the power of Expanse to transform the way we work and provide patients with a new level of care.”
