Sales jobs prospects at Birmingham medical equipment firm

29/06/2010
Sales and manufacturing jobs are being created at a Birmingham-based engineering company that makes medical and hospital equipment, after successfully winning a handful of US customers.

RNA Automation has increased its export sales by 50 per cent and raised its turnover to £4 million in the last year, after winning deals at an industry event in Chicago.

The Castle Bromwich-based company is now seeing the US deals account for 12 per cent of its business. Sales manager, Andy Perks, said they had benefitted immeasurably from the help from UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) and that the future was looking incredibly bright for the prospect of new staff and jobs.

“Their advice was spot-on,” he said. “We followed it through, won new business following the exhibition and we are now selling into the medical, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and automotive sectors in the USA.”

RNA Automation was established in 1983 and currently has 35 employees making and selling feeding systems and specialist handling equipment at its headquarters on Hayward Industrial Park.

The company joined UK Trade & Investment’s Gateway to Global Growth programme in December 2009. It provides a tailored, needs-based service with training and ongoing support for exporters with two to ten years’ experience.
