New scientific sales jobs to be created at EpiSensor
16/12/2011
Technology company EpiSensor, which provides wireless sensor technology used by firms in the pharmaceutical and medical devices industries, has announced that it is to create 10 new scientific sales jobs.
The Limerick-based firm has confirmed that it has secured venture capital funding totalling €850,000 which will ensure that the new positions can be created.
EpiSensor’s sensor technology allows firms to see where they can make energy savings, and some of its clients include pharmaceuticals giant Johnson&Johnson and technology heavyweight IBM.
The funding, €500,000 of which has been provided by the start-up and emerging-sectors equity fund at the Bank of Ireland, will help the firm to ‘grow international sales,’ co-founders Gary and Brendan Carroll told the IrishTimes.
Currently, the firm employs seven people and operates its products across sites in Europe, Australasia and North America. Customer bases in Hungary, Switzerland and New Zealand are showing particular growth.
The rest of the funding has been provided by the AIB Seed Capital Fund, Enterprise Ireland and a selection of private investors.
According to Shay Garvey of Delta Partners, the firm managing the start-up and emerging-sectors equity fund on behalf of the Bank of Ireland, the funding and job creation could well see EpiSensor becoming international leaders in wireless sensor technology.
