New medical machine sustains 800 jobs at NI company
29/07/2010
A Northern Ireland-based company has maintained nearly 800 medical equipment development and sales jobs with the production of what it hails as the world's most advanced medical analyser.
Randox Laboratories, which works from headquarters in Crumlin, unveiled the Evidence Evolution analyser at the global convention of the American Association of Clinical Chemists in California this week. It anticipates global demand for the device, which is said to set a new standard in diagnostic testing.
Randox managing director, Dr Peter Fitzgerald, said, "Evidence Evolution now brings cutting edge, innovative multiple biochip technology into the heart of daily, large-scale laboratory testing, helping to greatly improve patient diagnosis and outcomes."
The company registered a turnover of £65 million last year. Dr Fitzgerald added that they were particularly satisfied to have produced the equipment in Northern Ireland, where ongoing research and development and the production of their award-winning products helps sustain more than 600 jobs domestically and a further 200 overseas.
He explained, "The combination of our technology, the quality of our people and the cleanliness of our manufacturing environment combine to sustain the multimillion-pound export success we enjoy and the job creation ability we continue to develop year-after-year."
